Filter Lifespan & Replacement

The SA700 is the most energy-efficient purifier in the Snap Air range. Nine 120mm fans push air through a large flat HEPA panel in a sealed aluminium housing, delivering 720 m3/h CADR at just 42 dB and 12 watts.

Filter choice

Available with E11 (included, 720 m3/h CADR, 95%+ efficiency) or upgrade to H14 (490 m3/h CADR, 99.995% efficiency per pass). H14 filters last longer and cost less annually despite the higher pack price. Both grades are EN1822 certified. 0.3 microns is the hardest particle size to catch, not the smallest. Both grades capture particles above and below that size more efficiently, including viruses. An optional carbon filter is available for odours and VOCs.

Single speed is deliberate. At 42 dB and 12 watts, there is no meaningful reason to run it lower. Pair with a smart plug or timer if you want scheduled operation. As comfortable in a large family home or open-plan living area as it is in a clinic or classroom.

Assumes a standard 2.4 m ceiling. Air changes per hour is how many times the purifier cleans the room's full volume each hour. We aim for 3 or more for comfortable everyday use, and a bit higher for allergy-prone or busy spaces.

Do I need more than one?

Think of it like a heater. One heater in the hallway won't warm the whole house, you put the warmth where people actually are. A purifier works the same way: it cleans the space it is in, but it won't effectively pull air through closed doors or around corners.

So focus on the spaces where people spend the most time, usually bedrooms and the main living area. From there you have two easy options:

Move one unit to match where you are, the living area by day and the bedroom at night.
Or keep one in each key space so it is always ready, which most people find simpler day to day.

A closed door helps either way, since the SA600 works faster and more evenly in a room that is not open to the rest of the house. You can skip the rooms nobody really uses.

It also doesn't have to be the same model everywhere. A Sqair suits a small bedroom, while a Blast Mini handles a large open-plan space on its own. Most homes are well sorted with two or three units in the rooms that matter, rather than one in every room.

The SA600 uses dual H13 True HEPA filters, made from premium polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET) media. Each filter is rigorously tested to capture 99.97% of particles both above and below 0.3 microns, including pollen, fine dust, and even virus-sized particles down to 0.005 microns.

Love the multi stage filter design, it's all very smartly put together. On low settings for steady state operation it's super quiet, and if you need to filter things quickly you can kick it up to high. Very happy with it and I'd very much recommend it to others.

I no longer see fibres and dust floating around my lounge after folding washing, and I’ve stopped having to take antihistamines as often. Simple but really works, way better than our previous Dyson air purifier. I’m literally about to place an order for another identical one for our bedroom.

This unit slaps!

It is nice to open an air purifier and have so much less packaging to deal with. The packaging that is included is (seemingly) sustainable by being recyclable or compostable.

The unit is sturdy, fairly well designed, and works well. It is energy efficient particularly on the lower modes, and the large true carbon filters work considerably better than the typical cylinder designs with minimal carbon.

By having two large fans for airflow, the unit is very quiet on the 1 and 2 modes while moving a considerable amount of air. On mode 3 the noise is tolerable but definitely audible. Modes 4 and 5 are much louder and use considerably more power but moves a lot of air rapidly.

The lights to indicate the modes are a bit confusing - clearly retrofitted from the prior design while increasing the modes from 3 to 5 while keeping only 3 LEDs. I also like that the lights turn off by default. It has everything you need and nothing you don't.

My critiques would be that the design is made in a way that you can't really place it near a wall because the intakes are on both the front and back, thus blocking an intake if you place the purifier out of the way. It also blows air in strange directions - predominantly directly up, and slightly to the right, but nothing to the left. This is not adjustable and doesn't seem to be a conscious design choice but rather a side effect of the top grill designed to look stylish.

The fans are located toward the bottom of the unit, but the filters cover the entire sides. This means the bottom 2/3 of the filters take up most of the dust and get covered, while the top 1/3 remains relatively clear. It may be useful for me to flip the filters at some point during their lifetime if it's possible - I think they're designed in a way that would allow that.

The shipping tracking wasn't very good and the unit showed up by surprise, but otherwise the ordering experience was smooth.

I like the environmentally friendly design. My one final critique would be repairability. The ability to easily replace the fans or other components if they do break (and being able to buy or request these parts) would be an awesome bonus in an attempt to create a more circular and sustainable economy.

Customisability would be a nice added bonus - the white colour easily shows dust collected on the unit and is very boring (which, is intentional and allows it to fit in anywhere). But, it could be cool to have custom panels available for stylish looks given how easy they are to pop on and off or different colour options available. The holes in the grill could allow you to pop on little "charms" if you really wanted to make it feel a little more custom.

Overall, I say this unit "slaps".

Thanks for the very detailed feedback and review! Happy to hear the SA600 slaps. It's true you do need to be mindful of placement with the intakes on both sides, although as long as either intake side is placed ~20cm or more off the wall it'll still perform well. Also yes, flipping the filters around can be helpful and there's no issues with performance by doing this.

We're hoping to improve the tracking in the future, to provide more updates beyond getting the tracking link. Reparability is something we're conscious of too, we do have access to spare parts and can do some repairs here. Though, we don't often see issues popping up requiring repair!

While results can vary and we can't guarantee success, many users find relief from asthma and allergy symptoms when the air is consistently cleaned.

Yes. HEPA filters are highly effective at capturing airborne viruses and bacteria, even down to particles smaller than 0.01 microns thanks to Brownian Motion. This includes viruses such as influenza and COVID-19. By trapping these particles, the SA600 reduces the risk of them staying suspended in the air.

Air purifiers can help with dust, but they won’t remove all the visible stuff. Larger, heavier dust tends to settle on surfaces quickly, so it often falls before the purifier can capture it. What purifiers are best at is reducing the fine, invisible dust (PM2.5) that stays airborne longer - that’s the type most linked with allergies and irritation.

You’ll get the best results for dust with a high CADR purifier, and by avoiding ionisers, which can actually cause more dust to settle by making particles clump together. Running the purifier on higher speeds also gives it a better chance of catching dust before it drops.

Instead, the SA600 gives you direct control with five fan speeds. We recommend running it whenever people are around - or continuously for maximum protection. For accurate monitoring, pair it with a dedicated air quality monitor.

The filter light is a timer based on hours of use, not actual filter condition. In New Zealand conditions, filters usually last longer. Check the HEPA filter for discolouration (grey/black) and reduced airflow. For carbon filters, use the “smell test” - if they smell acidic/metallic, it’s time to replace. To reset the filter reminder, hold the button under the light for 4 seconds.

Good question, and it's not a contradiction. Filter grade tells you what percentage of particles a filter captures in a single pass: 99.5% for H12, 99.97% for H13. What matters more in a real room is how much air actually moves through the filter, which is what CADR measures.

Denser H13 media restricts airflow, so many H13 purifiers quietly sacrifice CADR to wear the badge. The SA600 avoids that trade-off with its dual-fan, dual-filter design and large filter surface area, delivering 508m³/h of clean air with the H13 grade on top. The Sqair takes the other route: H12 media allows more airflow per filter, which is how it delivers so much clean air at its price.
