How long will your filter last?

Around 1,200 operating hours per filter, equivalent to about 10 months at 4 hours a day. This is a guide for typical NZ conditions; your filter may last longer or need replacing sooner depending on usage, pollution levels and filter condition.. How do I know when to replace it?

The QT3’s filter reminder activates after approximately 800 operating hours. It is a timer, not a measurement of filter condition, so use it as a prompt to check rather than an automatic replacement deadline.

Consider replacing the filter when its media has become dark grey or black across most of the surface, or airflow remains noticeably reduced after checking that the air inlets and outlets are clear. A little discolouration alone does not mean it needs changing.

After replacing the filter, press and hold the Filter Reminder button for approximately 2 seconds. The indicator flashes rapidly three times to confirm the timer has reset. Do not wash or vacuum the filter.

What affects filter life?

Filter life depends on how much airborne pollution passes through and collects in the filter. Daily running time, fan speed, pollution levels and the amount of filter media all play a part. A purifier moving less air may take longer to load its filter, but it also cleans less air over that time. A longer replacement interval alone doesn’t mean better performance or value.

Looking after your HEPA filter

Do not wash your HEPA filter. Follow your purifier’s manual for care and replacement instructions.

Fitting a replacement

Switch off and unplug your purifier before replacing its filters. Remove any protective packaging from the new filter and follow your model’s manual for the correct position and orientation.

To fit a replacement, switch the QT3 off and disconnect its USB power cable. Pull out the front tray, remove the old filter and unwrap the new one. Fit it firmly with the arrow pointing outwards, then reinsert the tray. Follow your QT3 manual and reset the filter reminder after replacement.

Smart Air now uses the E11 designation for the QT3’s particle filter. Some supplied filters may still carry an H11 label; this listing is for the QT3 replacement filter.
