The SA700 is the most energy-efficient purifier in the Snap Air range. Nine 120mm fans push air through a large flat HEPA panel in a sealed aluminium housing, delivering 720 m3/h CADR at just 42 dB and 12 watts.

Performance

  • 42 dB, 720 m3/h CADR: single speed, always full output
  • 12 watts: around $2.20/month to run 24/7, roughly the same as a Wi-Fi router
  • 42 dB is quieter than most purifiers on their lowest speed

Filter choice

Available with E11 (included, 720 m3/h CADR, 95%+ efficiency) or upgrade to H14 (490 m3/h CADR, 99.995% efficiency per pass). H14 filters last longer and cost less annually despite the higher pack price. 0.3 microns is the hardest particle size to catch, not the smallest. Both grades capture particles above and below that size more efficiently, including viruses like Covid. An optional carbon filter is available for odours and VOCs.

Single speed is deliberate. At 42 dB and 12 watts, there is no meaningful reason to run it lower. Pair with a smart plug or timer if you want scheduled operation.

Aluminium body, fire-rated and repairable with basic tools. Floor standing, wall or ceiling mountable with the optional bracket set. 6.7 kg, no floor footprint when wall mounted. No ioniser, no UV light, no fibreglass. Safe for pets, babies, clinics, classrooms, and anywhere clean air matters.

Made by Smart Air, a social enterprise whose profits fund clean air access in developing countries.

Expected HEPA lifespan:

H14 HEPA: approximately 4,680 hours, around 18 months running 8 hours a day. This is a conservative figure, NZ's clean air typically means filters last longer than the manufacturer's estimate.

E11 HEPA: approximately 10 months running 8 hours a day (estimated). This is an early figure and should be treated as a conservative estimate rather than a precise figure.

Note: E11 filters have a shorter lifespan than H14 because the higher CADR pushes more air through the filter media each hour. The filter loads up faster as a result. Learn more about when to replace your filters here.

Will the SA700 suit your room?

The SA700 runs at one speed: full. Pop in your room size, pick a filter, and we'll show you exactly how many times per hour it cleans your room's air. We aim for 3 or more air changes per hour.

10 m²110 m²
Filter
6.0 air changes per hour
on the E11 (included) filter

Dashed line marks our 3 air changes per hour target. Past it the SA700 clears the room comfortably, short of it the room is larger than this filter suits.

Assumes a standard 2.4 m ceiling. Air changes per hour is how many times the purifier cleans the room's full volume each hour. We aim for 3 or more for comfortable everyday use, and a bit higher for allergy-prone or busy spaces.

Still not sure? Send us your room sizes and we'll put together a recommendation, no pressure.

Filter Details

Included

2x E11 HEPA Filters

Huge airflow with at least 95% of particles captured every pass. With the SA700's 720m³/h CADR, your room's air passes through many times an hour, which is what actually cleans a space.

Optional Upgrade

2x H14 HEPA Filters

The highest HEPA grade, capturing at least 99.995% of particles per pass and certified to EN1822. The same filtration standard used in hospitals and cleanrooms, with a CADR of 490m³/h.

Optional

2x Carbon (VOC) Filters

Add a total of 1.5kg of granular activated carbon, the most of any setup in our range, to adsorb odours, smoke smells and VOCs. Fits over the HEPA filters on both sides.

person sneezing icon

Allergies

Massive 720m³/h CADR captures pollen, dust mites and mould spores fast, cutting down sneezing, itchy eyes and other allergy symptoms in even large spaces.

asthma inhaler icon

Asthma

Asthma triggers like dust, smoke and mould are captured by genuine HEPA filtration. With no ionisers or ozone, the SA700 is safe for sensitive lungs and gentle enough to run 24/7.

dust icon

Dust & Dust Mites

Airborne dust and dust mites are effectively captured by the HEPA filters. The SA700's high air change rate catches fine dust before it settles.

mould icon

Mould

Purifiers can't treat the cause of mould, but the SA700's HEPA filters are extremely effective at capturing airborne mould spores. Great for mould-prone NZ homes and sensitive lungs.

dog icon

Pets

The HEPA filters capture dander and fine particles, while the mesh filter face catches larger hairs. Add the optional carbon filters to tackle pet odours too.

home with chimney smoke icon

Smoke

Woodburner and wildfire smoke particles are trapped effectively by HEPA filtration, and the SA700 has the airflow to keep up in big open-plan spaces. Add carbon filters to absorb smoky odours.

virus icon

Viruses

HEPA filters are proven to capture airborne viruses, including COVID-19. The SA700's huge CADR makes it a strong choice for waiting rooms, classrooms and shared spaces.

chemical and VOC icon

Smells & VOCs

Add the optional carbon filter pack: 1.5kg of real activated carbon pellets, the most of any purifier setup we sell, to adsorb VOCs from paint, furniture, cleaning products and cooking.

Choose the SA700 if
You want maximum clean air running 24/7 for next to nothing in power, quiet at full output, or the option to get it off the floor entirely. Our pick for clinics, classrooms, offices and busy open-plan homes.
Choose the Blast Mini if
You want speed flexibility (36 dB on low, still 340 m³/h), H13 filtration as standard, a washable pre-filter, and more filtration headroom in very large or high-traffic rooms. The more traditional premium purifier of the two.

SA700 FAQs

It's a deliberate design choice. The SA700 was engineered so that full output is already quiet (42dB) and already cheap to run (12W), which removes the usual reason for turning a purifier down. Clean air output is highest when a purifier runs at full speed, and most people leave multi-speed purifiers on low, getting a fraction of the performance they paid for. With the SA700 you always get the full 720m³/h. If you want scheduling, it works perfectly with a smart plug or timer: it simply resumes when power is restored.

About the level of a quiet office or a fridge hum. For context, our SA600 measures 41dB on speed 4, where it delivers 320m³/h of clean air. The SA700 delivers 720m³/h, more than double, at essentially the same volume. It's audible in a silent room, but it fades into the background of any space with normal activity. For bedrooms where you want near-silence, the SA600 at 16dB on speed 1 is still our quietest pick.

Yes. The SA700 comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty, plus all the protections of the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA). The durable design means very few issues in practice, and our local support team is here to help if you ever need it.

Short answer: E11 for most people, H14 for specific needs. The E11 filters (included) capture at least 95% of particles per pass and allow maximum airflow: 720m³/h, covering up to 78m². Because the air passes through many times an hour, the room gets very clean very fast. The H14 filters capture 99.995% per pass, the highest HEPA grade, certified to EN1822 and used in hospitals, with a CADR of 490m³/h covering up to 60m². H14 makes sense for clinical settings, high-risk households, or anyone who wants maximum single-pass capture. Bonus: H14 filters also last longer, so their higher price roughly evens out over time. You can read more about why airflow matters as much as filter grade in our H13 HEPA guide.

Yes. With a CADR of up to 720m³/h, the SA700 removes airborne allergens like dust, pollen, mould spores and pet dander faster than anything else in our range. While results vary and we can't guarantee outcomes, consistently clean air makes a real difference for many asthma and allergy sufferers, and the SA700 has no ionisers or ozone, so it's safe for sensitive lungs.

Yes. HEPA filters are highly effective at capturing airborne viruses and bacteria, even particles smaller than 0.01 microns thanks to Brownian motion. The SA700's high air change rate is exactly what's recommended for reducing airborne transmission in shared spaces, which is why this style of purifier is popular in clinics and classrooms overseas.

The HEPA filters handle particles, but odours and VOCs are gases, and that's a job for activated carbon. The optional SA700 carbon filter pack adds 750g of granular activated carbon per side, 1.5kg in total, the most carbon of any purifier setup we sell. The carbon filters sit over the HEPA filters and can be added or removed any time.

Yes, with the optional bracket set. At 6.7kg the SA700 is light enough to mount safely on standard walls and ceilings. The right fixings depend on your wall type, so the bracket guide covers timber, masonry and ceilings, and we're happy to help you pick the right ones before you order. One practical note: the power cable is 1.8m, so plan your mounting position with a power point within reach. It's a good way to protect floor space and keep the unit out of reach in classrooms and waiting rooms.

No, and that's deliberate, the same philosophy as the rest of the Smart Air range. Built-in sensors are often inaccurate and switch units off while harmful particles are still in the air. We recommend running the SA700 whenever people are around, or continuously, which its 12W power draw makes genuinely affordable. For accurate monitoring, pair it with a dedicated air quality monitor.

At New Zealand's average price of $0.25/kWh, running the SA700 continuously costs around 7 cents a day, roughly $2.20 a month or $26 a year. That's running 24 hours a day, every day. For comparison, that's about the same annual power use as a Wi-Fi router

Perfectly. The SA700 has a simple physical switch, so when power is restored it picks up exactly where it left off. Set a schedule on a smart plug and you've effectively added a timer mode for about $20.

Orders ship promptly from our Christchurch warehouse, sent out every weekday afternoon. South Island is usually next business day, with 2 business days for North Island (slightly longer for rural addresses).

Almost nothing. The one tool worth having on hand is a Phillips screwdriver, used to adjust the small metal tabs that hold the filters in place. It's handy for making sure the filters are seated and secured correctly, and you'll want it later when it's time to replace them. We don't supply one, but it's the only thing you'll need. After that, plug into a standard wall socket and it runs at full output.
